We rely on a mix of learning styles to absorb information and share knowledge. The good news is that we sharpen our ability to learn and develop multiple intelligences. Effective marketing strategy must be executed with a memorable and persuasive message...surprises can work.

Basic learning styles:
Visual (spatial)
Aural (hearing-musical)
Verbal ( lingual)
Physical ( kinesthetic)
Logical (mathematical)
Social (interpersonal)
Solitary (intrapersonal)

Consider the typical GUI (graphical user interface): Icons are pictures or symbols which represent tasks we want to perform repeatedly. Menus are lists of words that provide access to the same functions as do icons. Power users memorize shortcuts. A well designed GUI or website should be easy to use and remember.

<favorite terms>Synergy: (from the Greek word which means working together) is the term used to describe a situation where the final outcome of a system is greater than the sum of its parts. Synergy is an essential operational principle within the Holistic Marketing Marketing System which is built from multiple synergies involving multiple perspectives.

“I do believe that there are some universal cognitive tasks that are deep and profound - indeed, so deep and profound that it is worthwhile to understand them in order to design our displays in accord with those tasks”— Edward Tufte

Nielson Norman Group stresses simplicity when recommending strategies to enhance the user experience. In August 2008,
42 keywords drove traffic to their website; almost 40,000 visitors spent an average of 2 minutes per visit. A Google search for “email newsletter design” pulled them up at the top of the page.

Holistic Marketing Design...Everything matters

The moment I saw the photo of Tara, I knew the image was a “keeper” so I blended several other photos together to create the screened back background. When presenting the final for approval, it was important to insist that less words were really more. Fortunately, I won. The billboard also won a CASE AWARD (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) in the outdoor category. Most important, of course, was the message contributing to an important educational initiative.

Because 80% of communication is considered to be non verbal, and marketing surrounds communication, it is crucial to understand how people seek and absorb information. Marketing Holistics looks at the communication problem and determines the best solution which will resonate with appropriate audiences. Dogs, rocks and balls still and will always work!

Innovation and immediacy are available to everyone. I'm convinced that a deeper understanding of design principles contributes to work which resonates. Typically we start the process by a careful review and if necessary a reformulation of your marketing plan.

Today, I'm designing directly in Dreamweaver on an Apple IMac with a core 2 duo Intel processor, 4 gb of ram, and gigantic hard drive. Adobe CS4 is a fabulous suite of products with new enhanced production tools. I must admit that I am a bit of a software and hardware elitist. My clients deserve it.

Our core philosophy at Marketing Holistics LLC is based on the premise
that everything matters
under the holistic marketing umbrella.
