Why does Marketing Holistics deliver?

Barbara Reiner photoEvery business should provide a unique value proposition & then deliver on the promise. In 1986, I founded Buds & Blossoms, a floral design company based in New Haven, CT. My philosophy was based on the principles of Japanese Floral Design learned through study with masters of various schools of Ikebana - a disciplined natural art form. Everyone loved the organic and elegant floral designs arranged in mossy leaf bases or beautiful glass containers. No balloons, no plastic, no carnations, and no tacky wire service. We also made lavish gourmet gift baskets. Operating a successful, trendy business is empowering. Our work was shown in Architectural Digest. We did the wedding flowers for a Pulitzer Prize Winner. An observant person said that "I painted with flowers." My favorite flowers are orchids which belong to the largest family of flowering plants, Orchidaceae. Orchids, a bit extravagant but incredibly long lasting— inspire passion.

Before starting Buds & Blossoms, I successfully represented several news publications as an advertising account executive. Designing compelling, productive advertisements was rewarding and challenging. After a decade, I missed the thrill of working with other entrepreneurs with similar marketing needs for their enterprises.

Floral and  Educational Graphic Design

In 2001, driving traffic to a website was easy and inexpensive. Taking pictures of arrangements with a clunky prehistoric digital camera, I then changed the specials daily on our website and the orders rolled in. Yahoo offered yellow page ads — the sponsored online listings drove valuable traffic to our site. Conversions repeated but I sensed a new challenge on the horizon. I enjoyed photography and web work more than floral design. Digital is such a charge!

All the design work at Buds & Blossoms emanated from my unique artistic vision which was difficult to emulate. Embracing a new challenge, I closed the store to study digital design, marketing, communication, and business at the university level. Knowledge with Experience is powerful and valuable.
